This is a mandatory restaurant for us to visit it Orvieto, and Italy. It is one of the reasons we come here. Food, wine and service are reliably wonderful. Very welcoming!

Capitano del Popolo, in Orvieto’s Piazza del Popolo away from the tourist hub around the Duomo, serves marvelous food in a friendly, casual setting. Handmade pastas were superb. An Umbrian wine recommended to us was both superb and a remarkable value. Highly recommended!

Please come here for the excellent Umbrian dishes and the welcoming, friendly staff. They play (dinner) music too which is a nice change from the quiet, traditional ristorante.

Every dish was beautifully prepared, showcasing fresh, local ingredients and the rich culinary traditions of the region. The homemade pasta and the perfectly cooked meats were highlights, while the desserts were simply divine. The wine selection was thoughtfully curated, enhancing the meal with excellent pairings. The staff was friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable, adding a personal touch that made us feel right at home. The dishes here are just a little bit different from other places in Orvieto. And, that is a good thing. We always try to visit this restaurant when in Orvieto. It is consistently excellent. The dining rooms are attractive, as is their patio. I enjoyed my stuffed rabbit, and the baked chicken with vegetable also excellent. Good, varied winelist. And don't forget the amaro!
